THIER HOME PORT - Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortresses" of the 8th Air Force peel off for landings over their base in England. A beautiful sight at any time, this was especially true at the time photo was made, for these planes had just come home from flak and fighter filled skies over northwest Germany and the men of the ground crews were happy at the sight of their favorite air crews and planes safely home.
