On September 3, 1944 Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses of the 15th Air Force attacked the Pancevo railroad bridge near Belgrade, Yugoslavia. These three pictures tell the story. Direct hits were scored smashing on span that left a gap in the bridge of 500 feet. Smoke from burning rolling stock can be seen at a point between the 3d and 4th spans.
