B-17 Flying Fortresses attack Venissieu
Striking for the first time in the longest mission yet flown by the Mediterranean based bombers, Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses of the 15th AAF attacked the railroad yards at Venissieu, five miles south of Lyon, France, on 25 May 44 with reported hits on the yards and roundhouse. The yards at Venissieu is on one of the main lines leading from France to Italy. This photograph shows the bombs as they hit their mark on the yards. Phot. News. Div Sv. Pub.
