B-17 Flying Fortress returning

5/29/44. Coming in on a wing and burning engine is this Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress of the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces with Major Bradford A. Evans on his 46th mission, of 1875 Webster Street, Palo Alto, Calif., at the controls. Major Evans returning from a mission over Toulon, France, when his No. 1 engine "blew up and caught fire". The Fortress was brought in for a successful landing.
