A Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress of the U.S. 8th Air Force, bomb bay gaping, is just about to release its high explosive load on the German port of Swinemunde only 16 miles from Marshal Zhukov's Red Army forces in the Baltic area on March 12, 1945. The assault revealed the port teeming with activity.
