With dense cloud formations below it, a Boeing B-17, part of a formation of "Flying Fortresses" of the 452nd Bomb Group, leaves contrails of condensing vapor to mingle with the clouds as the formation drones toward its objective of Frankfurt, Germany, 20 March 1944.
