B-17 Flying Fortress jacking

Large rubber lift bags are used to aid in jacking up a Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress" whose landing gear has collapsed. The lift bags are rolled beneath the wing and inflated until the necessary pressure is exerted to raise the wing. Rubber was chosen as the best material for this job, to reduce the chances of injuring the aluminum "skin". 11th Combat Crew Replacement Center, AAF Station 112, England, 5 December 1942.
