B-17 Flying Fortress in England

ENGLAND - Within the plexiglass-enclosed nose of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Pvt Oliver H. Davis, Westbrook Field, Mass., makes last-minute adjustments and loads the fifty-caliber machine guns used to ward off swarming German fighters. Shortly after this picture was snapped, the combat crew of this heavy bomber climbed aboard and took-off, joining the Eighth Air Force bomber stream headed for BERLIN.
