B-17 Flying Fortress crew over Leghorn
Veterans of a North African Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress squadron that has the unique record of never having lost a man in combat, the above crew members flew with their unit on its first raid and recently on its 100th mission--this time over Leghorn, Italy. All other members of the squadron who flew on the first mission have since been sent home. Left to right, the veterans are: Sgt. James Gilbert, 413 4th St. Coeurd 'alene, Idaho, ball turret gunner.
