B-17 Flying Fortress Bomb Bay Open

THE GAPING JAWS of a Fortress bomb-bay open to take on a load of high explosive, destination, the railroad yards of Bolzano, a choke point south of the Brenner Pass. As part of the Air Plan called "Operation Strangle", after the mediums had knocked out the marshalling yards in Central Italy, the heavies of Strategic Air Force reached out for the yards in Northern Italy.
