B-17 crew in England

England - The crew of a Boeing B-17 looks at a badly damaged right horizontal stabilizer, practically shot off when Nazi fighters broke through to their formation during an 8th A.F. bombing attack upon Nienhagen and Hildesheim, Germany. Despite the damage inflicted during the Luftwaffe's attempted interception, 2nd Lt. William E. Craig, 24-year old pilot from Pittsburgh, Pa., guided his Fortress and its crew back to England and made one of the best landings of the afternoon. Crew members, l. to r.: Sgt.
