Ground crew men at a Mediterranean Allied Air Forces base in southern Italy examine a returned Boeing B-17 while medical personnel remove the body of its Navigator who was killed during the attack. This ship was one of the formation of heavy bombers which attacked the Nazi ball-bearing works at Steyr, Austria, and destroyed over 100 enemy fighters during the engagement.
