This photo was made at extremely low level during the course of an attack against Jap positions at Boram Airfield at Wewak on the north coast of New Guinea. At least 7 Jap anti-aircraft gun positions may be seen, all with their guns at such a level as to indicate the daring American raid was a complete surprise. The North American B-25 "Mitchell" medium bombers of the U.S. Army 5th AF which made the raid, started fires in supply dumps & destroyed several small craft in the harbor during the attack.
