Ploesti, Rumania - Astra Romana Oil Plant. Burst in foreground has made such mincemeat of Trumble unit that Germans made no effort to repair it. This is an old-fashioned thermal cracking plant. Bomb blast has destroyed most pipe, has perforated much that remains, has also damaged fractionating stills (row of vertical tanks at top), and decapitated brick chimney in rear of picture.
