American Fighter Pilot in England

AN EIGHTH AAF FIGHTER STATION, ENGLAND--Swinging in almost to ground level, an American fighter pilot destroys a German plane and is himself almost destroyed in the process. (1) The German plane beside the runway on an airdrome in France. Notice the smoke beginning to rise from the engine as the American's bullets hit home. (2) Suddenly the Nazi craft bursts into flame. (3) The flame grows in intensity. (4) The plane explodes. Flying debris which pierced the attacking plane may be seen. These are still pictures from the gun camera record of the action. These pictures were taken from the plane of Capt. Norman D. Munson of Broad St. Plattsburg, N.Y.
