S. AIR FORCE COMBAT CREWS TAKE ACTION PICTURES The presence of combat photographic crews in all war zones was announced today by the U. S. Army Air Forces. Coincident with this announce-ment came the release of a series of pictures taken by these photographers during attacks on enemy positions and shipping. Included is one of the out-standing "shots" of the war thus far--an aerial close-up of a Jap transport which had been camouflaged with palm trees and foliage. Despite this attempt at concealment, U. S. bombers located the enemy vessel, scored unerring hits and set it afire. The combat photographers are in action in North Africa, Alaska, Australia, the Solomons and India. Each crew consists of nine officers and twenty-three men. They fly with the fighters and train their cameras on the objectives as they are being bombarded. At other times they photograph positions for tactical information for the use of operational headquarters. They are thus building a valuable record for current warfare and for study by the strategists as well as historians in years to come. The American public will benefit from the work of these combat camera crews by getting factual visual information of our forces and the re-sult of their operations against the enemy. a little out of focus badly exposed NO TEXT
