Allied Air Forces in Libya
Fighters and fighter bombers of the Allied Air Forces are still help-ing to keep the enemy on the run in Libya. They are hitting him hard from bases almost in the front line. The superb organization of mob-ile ground units has kept striking forces available for quick action. Squadrons have been moved at short notice. Transport aircraft have provided a steady supply of ammunition and supplies for front line aircraft at high speed. Aircraft have been repaired and serviced efficiently right forward in the operational zones. But before air-craft can operate from front line landing grounds, obstructions have to be cleared. All the airfields captured from the enemy are mined. Hundreds of mines have been removed and made harmless by advancing parties preparing the way for Allied Air Forces. These pictures show how mines are detected.
