Airmen of New Layfayette Escadre
Airmen of the new Lafayette Escadre of World War II, a Republic P-47 fighter bomber component of First French Air Corps of First Tactical Air Force commanded by Maj Gen Robert M. Webster (insert). Captains Montravel and de l'Espinay commanding the Sioux and Cigogne Escadrilles which composes the Lafayette Groupe, are shown (standing, left to right) at extreme left of photograph. The remembered Indian head emblem of the original Lafayette Escadrille, pictured here, is re-tained as the Escadre's emblem of World War II.
