Airmen of Fifth Air Force in New Guinea

ADVANCE ECHELON, FIFTH AIR FORCE, SOMEWHERE IN NEW GUINEA - Having made history with the destruction of 17 grounded Japanese aircraft in the first wartime use of the parachute bomb, the light bombardment squadron to which these airmen belong has continued pressing the fight against the enemy in the Southwest Pacific with some 180 combat missions.
