Airmen of Fifth Air Force in New Guinea

ADVANCE ECHELON, FIFTH AIR FORCE, SOMEWHERE IN NEW GUINEA - In some 180 missions with Douglas A-20As, the light bomb squadron to which these airmen belong has attacked 75 Japanese vessels and relentlessly strafed and bombed ground forces on widely separated battle ground of New Guinea. The squadron was the first to use the famous parachute bomb. This crew has 23 combat flights to its credit. Pictured, left to right, are: 2nd Lt. Edmund D. Montagano, pilot, of Cleveland, Ohio; Sgt.
