Airmen near Marseilles

Eighth Air Force airmen of the 92nd Bombardment Group adjust the safety belts of Army Ground Forces "85-Pointers" bound for the U.S.A. and discharge just before take-off in a converted Boeing B-17 from a flying field near Marseilles, France. Flying Fortresses, stripped of guns, turrets and armor plating and equipped with benches, fly the returnees from the vast staging area in the Rhone River Delta to Casablanca on the North African coast from where Air Transport Command planes fly the veteran combat mento the United States.
