Airman Teaches Okinawan Children

AIRMAN IS GUEST TEACHER AT OKINAWA GRAMMAR SCHOOL - Grammar school children in a typical Okinawa classroom in the village of Koza are shown listening to a guest teacher, Private First Class Victor Fousel, of Bowie, Arizona, who is explaining through an interpreter on the right, his job on the island as radio operator of a Boeing B-29 "Superfortress". Most of the children knew the B-29 during the war for its devastating bombings, and Fousel is explaining its peacetime mission. The interpreter is Tony Oyakawa, a 20-year-old Japanese-American from Los Angeles, who is employed in that capacity by the 1st Air Division. The schoolmaster, on the left, is Sunakawa Geni.
