Air Medal at Mitchel Field

"UNREMITTING VIGIL" of Technical Sergeant Donald E. Lahmers and 50 other officers and men of the Anti-Submarine Command was hailed at Mitchel Field, New York, ceremonies by Brigadier General Westside R. Larson. The general, shown pinning the Air Medal on Sergeant Lahmers' breast, said the work of the Atlantic patrols had cut down the U-boat menace, saving hundreds of lives and thousands of tons of cargo.
