Air Force Pilot in China's Szechwan Province

AIR FORCE PILOT BRINGS GIFTS FOR LOLO QUEEN WHO HELPED IN SEARCH FOR "ENSLAVED PILOTS". A two-year investigation by United States Air Force personnel and Army Graves Registration Service search temas in China's western Szechwan province disclosed that no American flyers were ever held by Lolo tribesmen who were rumored to have "enslaved" the crew of a crashed Boeing B-29 "Superfortress". Although none of the rumors were ever verified, Air Force and Army searchers worked for months in the wild interior of Lololand checking every report to determine that no lost Americans were in the hands of the Lolos. Air Force planes dropped food to friendly tribesmen and leaflets were scattered throughout the mountainous territory offering rewards for information about the "missing fliers". Pictured is a USAF pilot presenting gifts to one of the Lolo queens whose tribe guided searchers into the hidden Lolo valleys. The search was abandoned and the case marked "closed" when the Air Force and the Graves Registration Service were convinced that no fliers were ever held by the Lolos. All rumors about "enslaved fliers" proved to be false.
