1944-10-10

Agana, formerly a town of 11,000 people, was completely wrecked; not a single building was left untouched. This photograph, taken 10 October 1944, gives one a general view of the destruction in the town on Guam, Marianas Islands. The street to the right is the Calle Santa Cruz which dates back to 1870. On the hills in the background are the headquarter buildings of the Island Command.
