Aerial attacks near Paris and Orleans

As the appointed day for the invasion drew near, the tempo of aerial attacks was greatly increased. Between Paris and Orleans there are no waterways and few bridges, thus offering a clear path over which Germans could maneuver troops into the fighting areas. A key rail junction in this area is at Massey-Palaiseau, a few miles south of Paris. 8th USAAF heavies attacked 2 and 4 June 44, damaging choke points and disrupting tracks. Clusters of bombs may be observed striking one end of the yards.
