Private Celebration of Independence Day Was Held by the Crew

private celebration of Independence Day was held by the crew of a U.S.A.F. Consolidated B-24 who caught this Japanese cargo vessel near Vanimo, on the northeastern border of Dutch New Guinea. The first bombs dropped were near-misses off the stern of the vessel, & then a direct hit was made with a 500-pound bomb which set the ship afire.
