A-26 Invader Over German Village

A Douglas A-26 Invader, an attack bomber recently added to the 9th Bombardment Division's fleet of tactical bombers, streaking over a German village to attack communications lines routing supplies and reinforcements to enemy positions on the western front. Note the dug-in fortifications on the outskirts of the town, beneath the plane. Against such targets the Douglas A-26s drop their bombs at medium levels, then go into strafe personnel and gun sites at low altitudes.
