A-20 Havoc over English Channel
NINTH AIR FORCE HEADQUARTERS, EUROPEAN THEATRE OF OPERATIONS, An A-20 Havoc light bomber of the 9th AF is shown laying a smoke screen low over the water of the English Channel during exercises simulating European invasion. Armed with a vicious array of caliber 50 machine guns, carrying an important weight of bombs, and capable of extreme speed, the Havocs are the newest addition to Allied air power operating from the United Kingdom. Though the A-20's have been fighting in various theatres for some time, the version of these planes flying for the 9th AF have secret modifications greatly increasing their potency. They fill a classification about half way between fighters and the famous Marauder medium bomber. For Pub. Relations JAN 13 1945
