9th Air Force Bomber in France

Preparing a 9th Air Force medium or light bomber for a combat mission during the winter in France entails extra work for the maintenance men. In addition to their routine work, usually performed in the open air, the ground men must keep engines warmed periodically, scrape off ice and snow from fuselages and wings and sweep runways of as much as seven inches of snow.
