9th AF at beachhead

FRANCE.- On the first day of the invasion, the 9th AF played a great supporting job in the landing with water proofed vehicles on this scene at the beachhead while 88mm shells burst around them. In the background on the cliffs smoke soars from devastated German held positions which were hit by the 9th Air Force.
