A U.S. Army 8th Air Force Transport plane crashlands in the Ocean off the coast of France. One of the craft in the huge invasion fleet dashed up to rescue the crew. Note distinctive stripes on wings and fuselage which all Allied aircraft carried in the invasion to facilitate ready recognition by ground troops and vessels.
