8th Air Force Rescue Demonstration at Okinawa, Ryukyu Retto, 27 January 1946. Close-up of "Survivor" being taken to the nearest beach by an R-6 helicopter. (Note streamlining effect causes "Survivor" to ride backwards lessening effect of wind -- airspeed 20 mph and altitude of "Survivor" approximately 50 feet which was found to be very satisfactory.
