8th AAF Liberator in England

AN EIGHTH AAF BOMBER COMMAND STATION, ENGLAND: This is a rear view of a bomber returned from a mission over Germany recently. This 8th AAF Liberator, known as "El Lobo", has flown some 500 miles of a combat mission with the tail turret sliced completely off, and the right rudder, as well as large pieces of both elevators, gone. The pilot took for granted what seemed to be almost a miracle. He said "It never occurred to me to doubt that we would return". "El Lobo" was on its way to Bremen when something, believed to be a propeller torn off another ship by flak, sliced into the tail and did the damage.
