8th AAF bombers over Brunswick

Brunswick, Germany - "ROUGHEST MISSION" were the most common words heard after the three prolonged attacks on German aircraft factories on 11 January. This photo shows a small force of 8th AAF bombers sent to attack the Waggum ME 110 main as-sembly plant at Brunswick, Germany. The lone burst of flak was one of the quiet moments of the mission which featured almost non-stop attacks by German fighters using every possible method to stop the bombers. At least 152 enemy fighters were destroyed, our forces losing 60 members.
