492nd Air Service Group inspects Luftwaffe cannon in Germany

Men of the 492nd Air Service Group in Germany, commanded by Lt. Col. Alan D. Catterall, of Garden City, L. I., N.Y., inspecting one of the Luftwaffe's largest cannons. This long barreled, powerful gun, was designed to fit into the nose of the aircraft. The termination of the war interrupted its perfection and it was never employed against the Allies. The destruction of such armament is part of the extensive air disarmament program being conducted by units of the 2nd Air Disarmament Wing, of the 9th AF Service Command.
