339th Fighter Group England Easter

AN EIGHTH AIR FORCE FIGHTER STATION, ENGLAND ** Although the Allied offensives on the Western and Eastern fronts in Germany didn't stop today for Easter, members of the 339th fighter group, commanded by Colonel John B. Henry Jr., San Antonio, Texas, paused for worship services at this Eighth Air Force North American P-51 Mustang station. The fighter group's chaplain, Capt. Henry W. Opperman, Redlands, California, who for nearly two years has been "taking worship services to the men who can't leave their jobs to come to the chapel," is shown here beside his jeep conducting an Easter sunrise service on the flying line.
