28th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron on Okinawa

28th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron Area. This photo squadron was the first Air Corps unit on Okinawa and was used in close support to ground fighting in the early part of the campaign. From 4 July 1944 to 4 July 1945, the outfit had flown 1000 missions. In some cases photographs of Japanese ground positions taken as low as 50 feet were requested. In the photo the Laboratory is at the right of the picture with living quarters in the background.
